The .22 GTO™ Cartridge was originally designed to enhance the capabilities of the M-4 family of weapons to allow the use of an 80 to 90 grain projectile from the standard M-16 magazine. The .22 GTO™ will be capable of velocities over 3100 feet per second out of the standard M16A2. This cartridge can be used for small-bore 1000 yard shooting with the 80-grain plus bullets. However, the original concept of this round was to provide the M-4 with a little more punch and range. At this time a 20-shot magazine only loses 2 to 3 rounds out of the magazine.
